About
Geraldine, better known as Geri, brings more than 25 years of experience in the hearing healthcare industry to Assiniboia and area. Her professional experience is also deeply personal. Geri has lived with hearing loss since birth and was fitted with her first hearing aids at just eight years old. She has also supported numerous family members through their own experiences with hearing loss.
Born and raised in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Geri is a small-town girl at heart. She values family and community and was excited to return to small-town life when she relocated to Assiniboia with her husband. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, working in the yard, travelling, visiting with friends and volunteering in the community.
Being a hearing aid wearer herself has given Geri a firsthand understanding of the challenges that can come with hearing loss and hearing aids. She knows that having someone there to provide guidance, encouragement and practical support can make a real difference in the experience. Over the years, life has reinforced for Geri just how important it is to hear the moments that matter, from the birth of her sons and grandson to the words “I love you.”
Geri graduated from the Hearing Aid Practitioners Program at Grant MacEwan University in 1999 and completed her Audiometric Technicians course later that year. She earned her BC-HIS designation in 2000 and became a Registrar Member of the College of Hearing Aid Practitioners of Alberta (RHAP).
Her career has taken her from Alberta to Southern Ontario and back again. After relocating to St. Catharines, Ontario, in 2004, Geri returned home in 2007 to open her own hearing clinic in Lloydminster. In 2018, she made the difficult decision to sell her clinic and devote her time to her youngest son’s participation in a gene therapy clinical trial for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which involved extensive travel and a significant commitment to his care.
After the trial came to an end, Geri was excited to return to the work she loves. She opened Coolidge Hearing Care on December 2, 2020, bringing full-service hearing care to Assiniboia and the surrounding area.
Geri continues to pursue professional development and expand the services she can offer her patients. In 2023, she completed her training as a Tinnitus Care Provider, becoming the first practitioner in Saskatchewan licensed in this area. Geri was elected President of the Saskatchewan Hearing Instrument Society (SHIPS) for the 2022–2025 term and currently serves on its executive as Past President. She plays an active role in negotiations and advocacy with government and third-party organizations to improve hearing care coverage for clients.
For Geri, hearing care is about more than hearing better. It is about helping people stay connected to the sounds, conversations and people that matter most.
